Laurie Shanholtzer brings over 30 years of experience to her portrait artistry. Originally from Bronxville, New York, Laurie now resides in Huntington, West Virginia. Her portraits grace both private and businesses nationally and several abroad.
Laurie?s family tradition has expanded over three generations. Her grandfather was the nationally recognized muralist Vincent Maragliotti, Iris Guarduccci(Aunt) was a Pulitzer prize winning portraitist. Gina Tetzlaff (mother), was a prominent dress designer and portraitist. Uncle Vincent is an international concert pianist and composer.
Laurie creates portraits that can become an heirloom your family will cherish for generations to come. She brings a fresh spontaneous approach to portraiture, capturing the inner personality and energy that makes each of her subjects unique.
Laurie has painted literally hundreds of commissioned portraits. She established the first portrait and pastel classes at the Huntington Museum of Art where she taught more than nine years. She is former President of the Tri State Arts Association. Her extensive lectures and workshops include the Armand Hamer Collection, area school workshops for students and teachers, and various civic groups. She has been juror for numerous exhibitions including the Kentucky state Arts Festival, The Jackson Ohio arts Exhibition among others.Currently, she is enjoying painting still-life, landscapes and figure paintings.
